Spans the spectrum of life from newborn through the teen years.
Hospice Atlanta’s goal is to provide the best quality of life at every stage and for every age. That’s why we have one of the only dedicated Pediatric Hospice Teams in the state. Our program—the first of its kind in Georgia– provides uncompromising care for patients who are newborn to late teens, as well as compassionate and extensive support for family members.
“Part of hospice is taking care of the patient while they’re here, but also the family after the patient’s gone.” – Lanise Shortell, RN CHPPN, CPLC, Pediatric Hospice Nurse
We do everything possible to keep families together during this difficult time. To accomplish this, we provide excellent in-home services (which is always the preference) or, for acute needs, professional care at one of our welcoming hospital partners. We fully understand that caring for pediatric hospice patients is more complex than caring for an adult. That’s why our pediatric care and support team consists of very special and gifted professionals including:
A Pediatric Hospice Medical Director
A Primary Nurse Case Manager
Social Workers
A Chaplain
Bereavement Counselors
Volunteers
