By Helen Levine, RN-BSNBefore I tell you about my typical day as a home health nurse, I want to tell you how I ended up in this career. You see, I’m old in nursing. Not old in spirit or necessarily old in age depending on...
Visiting Nurse Health System | Hospice Atlanta has been accredited for another 3 years with The Joint Commission, an independent, non-profit organization which accredits and certifies more than 21,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States.
As we flock to the homes of loved ones this holiday season, many of us will see our families for the first time in weeks or even months. A part of you must wonder how your elderly parent or family member looks compared to the last time you were together. Have they aged much? Do they act any differently? Perhaps one of your biggest fears is coming home and noticing a loved one has trouble remembering things, like turning off the stove.
Visiting Nurse Health System | Hospice Atlanta is in the process of changing its electronic medical records (EMR) to Homecare Homebase, which will provide streamlined, automated processes using cloud-based software. We are implementing this new system for two reasons: 1) to assist with recruiting and retaining quality staff, and, 2) to improve our clinical outcomes with evidence-based pathways. Using innovative technology with tablets and smartphones, our nurses will provide the best care with the tools needed to do their jobs to satisfaction.
